Evaluation- Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Genre the horror genre, provokes a negative emotional reaction from the audiences, this is done my playing on the audiences primal fear. This is done by having scenes that startles the viewer. This can be done by gruesome and supernatural scenes, this means that sometimes that fantasy often overlaps with this genre. Horrors play with the audience’s hidden worst fears, disgusts and terror of the unknown. So when making “Skinned” it was important, when filming we didn’t give too much away to the audiences. We did this by using lots of short fast extreme close ups, close ups and mid shots. The Horror genre also relies on the non-diegetic music to get the feeling of terror in the minds of the audiences. So we used a track called Demented dreams, this music has a innocents to it, which I thought reflected the killers victims.

Codes and conventions (we used)

We thought to make the best horror film we would stick to the conventions of a typical horror film

Location, in horror films, it is more frequent that the victim is in a place where no one can help them, such as a ghost town, abandoned factory or a house in the middle of no were, so we used an “abandoned work shop”

In most horror films there is always a form of danger such as curse or a known killings in the location  the victims go to. The victims aware of it but they still go. This is done to make the audiences aware of it, which sets them up to be scared. We did this though a scrap book the killer had keep of all of his victims.

Near another all of the time the Victim is, blond, and scantily dresses. We used a blond female, dressing her in small shorts and a green low cut top. However we should have used a red top because this has connotation of danger.
